📅 Effective: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Sweepio ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. Sweepio is a file management and storage analysis tool that helps you understand storage usage, manage files, find duplicates and large files, and clean up unnecessary data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
1Information We Collect and Use
Sweepio is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our own servers.
- We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- We do not collect device identifiers such as IMEI
- We do not collect location data
- We do not collect browsing history
- We collect anonymous usage analytics and crash reports via Firebase (see Section 4) — these do not contain personal identifiers
- We do not share any data with third parties beyond what is described in Section 4
All file scanning, storage analysis, and management operations are performed entirely on your device. No data ever leaves your device through our own services.
Note on Advertising: Our advertising partner Google AdMob may collect device information (such as device model, OS version, and advertising ID) to serve ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings. See Section 4 for details.
2Permissions We Request
Sweepio requires certain permissions to perform its file management and storage analysis functions. Each permission is used solely for its stated purpose:
- Storage / Manage External Storage: Required to scan device storage for file categorization, storage analysis, duplicate detection, large file identification, and file management. This permission allows the app to read file metadata, analyze storage usage, and manage selected files.
- Package Usage Stats (Usage Access): Required to calculate app cache sizes and provide accurate storage usage information for each installed application.
- Query All Packages: Required for the following core features: (1) scanning uninstall residuals left by removed apps, (2) storage analysis by application, (3) app cache cleaning, (4) running app detection to protect active apps from being affected, and (5) archived app detection to identify retained data. This permission allows the app to identify which apps are installed and detect files left behind after uninstallation.
- Accessibility Service: Used exclusively to automate clicking the "Clear Cache" button in system settings for apps whose cache cannot be cleared programmatically. The accessibility service does not collect, read, store, or transmit any personal data. It only interacts with the system Settings UI to perform cache clearing. It does not access your screen content, personal information, messages, or any other sensitive data. You can disable this service at any time in Settings > Accessibility.
- Request Delete Packages: Required to support app uninstallation functionality.
- Request Install Packages: Required to install APK files opened from within the app.
- Post Notifications: Required to send notifications about uninstall residual alerts and file management results.
3Data Storage and Security
All scan results and temporary data are stored in your device's memory (RAM) only. When you close the app or restart your device, this temporary data is automatically cleared. No persistent database of your files or personal information is created.
Deleted files are moved to an in-app recycle bin (stored locally on your device) with a configurable auto-deletion period, giving you time to recover accidentally deleted items. Files in the recycle bin are permanently deleted after the configured period.
When you uninstall Sweepio, all app data including the recycle bin is permanently removed from your device.
4Third-Party Services
Sweepio uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob & Mediation Partners: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. AdMob and its mediation partners (including Liftoff (Vungle)) may collect certain device information (such as device model, OS version, advertising ID, IP address, and app usage data) to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance. Liftoff Monetize (formerly Vungle) is an ad mediation partner that may collect and process device data for ad serving and analytics purposes. AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Liftoff's data practices are governed by Liftoff's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization).
- Google Play In-App Update: We use Google Play Core's In-App Update API to check for and prompt app updates. This service communicates with Google Play to determine if an update is available. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports (crash stack traces, device model, OS version, app version) in release builds only. This helps us diagnose and fix stability issues. Crash reports do not contain personal identifiers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics (event counts, session duration, screen views, user properties such as app_version and is_premium). This helps us understand which features are used and improve the app. Data does not contain personal identifiers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications about app updates and features. A push token is registered to deliver messages; the token is not associated with your personal identity. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase services collect anonymous data processed by Google as a data processor. Sweepio does not use these services to collect personal identity information, and we do not use social sharing features.
5Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can request information about the data we process about you. Since we do not collect personal data, there is typically no data to access beyond what is on your device.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete all app data at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or uninstalling the app.
- Right to Opt Out of Personalized Ads: You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google AdMob through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization) or by resetting your advertising ID.
- Right to Revoke Permissions: You can revoke any permission granted to the app at any time through your device settings (Settings > Apps > Sweepio > Permissions).
To exercise any of these rights, you do not need to contact us — all controls are available directly on your device. If you have questions, you may contact us at the email address in Section 8.
6Children's Privacy
Sweepio does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect any personal data from any users regardless of age, our app is safe for users of all ages. We do not target children specifically, and we do not offer any child-directed content or services.
Our app is not designated as a "Designed for Families" app on Google Play. Parents or guardians may wish to supervise younger children when using the app, as it includes the ability to manage and delete files.
7Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
